HATEby Michael Salerno

In this haunting new book, artist Michael Salerno peels back the layers of his previous work, exposing a raw and disturbing core.

HATE presents a series of sequenced images — explicitly sexual, eerie, ghostlike — that trace the life of a nameless boy between the ages of 2 to 14 years old, as an all-engulfing darkness embeds itself into every corner of his house and finally consumes him.

It’s an uncompromising vision of an “in-between world” where rooms hold secrets, acts of evil conjure entities, violence seeps into the walls and screams are absorbed into the carpet.
